The STA’s Policymaker-Stakeholder Reception was on April 10, 2019. This event is a chance for members of the Association to advocate for the trucking industry to policy makers as a part of a continued effort to foster productive and positive relationships between trucking industry participants and provincial regulators.

Among the VIPs who attended the event were Kelly Block, MP, who is the Shadow Minister of Transport, and Highways and Infrastructure Minister the Hon. Lori Carr. The majority of the STA board of directors was also in attendance

Board Chair Reg Quirling introduced both MP Block and Minister Carr. They spoke on the importance of the trucking industry to Canada, and how the federal carbon tax is something they will  continue to fight against in their respective positions.

The support of government for the trucking industry in the wake of the federal carbon tax is appreciated and the chance to foster conversation about these issues is the first step towards change for the better.
