On March 12, AMTA hosted Alberta Environment Minister Shannon Phillips for the announcement of the successful recipients of Emission Reduction Alberta’s BEST Challenge for clean technology projects, as well as increased support for Energy Efficiency Alberta programs that reduce methane emissions. The $15 million Alberta Zero Emission Truck Electrification Collaboration (AZETEC) project demonstrates that Alberta’s commercial transportation industry is leading the transition towards innovative, zero-emission transportation of people and goods that meets the province’s unique needs. Partners of the AZETEC project include AMTA member companies, technology providers, the energy sector, and the research community through the University of Calgary CESAR (Canada Energy Systems Analysis Research) Initiative.
