Subject to regulatory review by the Competition Bureau and Transport Canada, CN Rail has purchased Winnipeg-based TransX in a mega-deal targeting intermodal transportation. TransX has 2,600 employees
across North America (600 are based in Winnipeg) and its assets include about 1,500 trucks and 1,000 intermodal containers. The company has annual revenues of approximately $500-million.
CN is prepared to invest in and grow TransX’s intermodal capabilities, and will open opportunities for TransX across North America and into Mexico. TransX and CN partnered in refrigerated transportation in 2006 and the relationship has grown since then.
