TDGR Amendment 12 – Expected July 2, 2014

Updated Safety Marks
Reliable sources have indicated that the December 2012 proposal to overhaul placarding and other safety markings is expected to be published in the Canada Gazette Part II on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

This amendment is intended to improve the harmonization between the marking requirements in the Canadian TDGR (Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations) and the various current international (UN Recommendations, 49CFR, ICAO, and IMDG) regulations.

Significant Changes
Although not an exhaustive list, significant changes, based on the original Gazette I notice, include: introduction of defined “overpacks” and their markings, implications in the LQ (“Limited Quantity”) provisions, etc.; phasing out of the older Class 5.2, LQ, Marine Pollutant, Fumigation marks in favor of the international versions; relaxation of the need to remove safety marks while any quantity of DG remain; completely re-working the Part 4.15 placarding requirements, including severely restricting the use of the “Danger” placard (e.g. only for loads of “small means of containment”), limiting the 500 kg exemption options; allowing the use of 2 placards or 4 labels (with UN #s) on IBC (“intermediate bulk containers”) totes; adding a requirement to mark “toxic-inhalation hazard” on Special Provision 23 DG packages; and other changes.

Word has it that the amendment will take effect July 14, although (again based on the original proposal) there may be transitional provisions for some aspects.

New WinAlign HD alignment system increases fleet management efficiency!

Hunter's new WinAlign HD alignment system allows fleet operators to perform truck and trailer alignments without unhooking the trailer from the tractor, maximizing workflow and reducing setup time. WinAlign HD also allows technicians to perform trailer alignments using a simple kingpin adaptor. The option to align trailers with or without the tractor simplifies the alignment schedule for heavy-duty fleets, and increases overall fleet productivity.

Hunter's new DSP700T heavy-duty sensors drastically reduce setup time by using Hunter's exclusive roll-forward compensation to compensate all six sensors at once without the need to jack each axle. Six DSP700T heavy-duty sensors communicate with Hunter's WinAlign HD system to capture and produce live, simultaneous measurements on three axles in just four minutes. DSP700T sensors are accurate to a range of 600 inches (1,524 centimeters) to cover all truck, bus and trailer lengths.

Complementary, on-site demonstrations are available. Customers in North America may schedule demonstrations by contacting their local Hunter Heavy Duty Representative at www.hunter.com/demos-hd

Introducing the world's fastest and most accurate wheel aligner for multi-axle trucks!

Hunter Heavy Duty customers can now diagnose tire wear conditions in 1/3 of the time. New technology from Hunter Engineering provides accurate, 3-axle wheel alignment readings in just 4 minutes. Hunter's previous generation aligner took approximately 12 minutes.

Hunter's improved Winalign HD Alignment System uses four or six revolutionary DSP700T heavy-duty alignment sensors. DSP700T sensors use exclusive roll-forward compensation to compensate all sensors at once without the need to jack each axle. The new system decreases setup time and equipment wear through a completely reengineered setup process.

DSP700T sensors are cordless and are compensated at the same time by Hunter's unique pusher. Hunter's DSP700T sensors are accurate to a range of 600 inches (1,524 centimeters) to cover all truck, bus and trailer lengths. When equipped with the timesaving capabilities of Hunter's optional Fully Integrated Alignment Turnplate Kit (FIA), the system produces full vehicle measurements in as little as 4 minutes.

Hunter sensors are engineered to be shop-tough and protect impact-prone areas. Each sensor is protected by a lightweight, durable and rubberized shell. Hunter's self-centering wheel adaptors offer high-versatility for trucks and buses, which often have low- hanging bumpers or air dams, and fit steel and aluminum wheels ranging from 15 to 28 inches (38 to 71 centimeters) in diameter.

The new WinAlign HD Alignment software allows Hunter customers to align trailers without unhooking the power unit. The system can also align trailers without a power unit using an optional kingpin adaptor.

New WinAlign HD Alignment Systems also feature new, copyrighted adjustment videos to guide technicians through the alignment procedure. Just-in-time videos help train new technicians and make sure each wheel alignment is completed properly.

Complementary, on-site demonstrations are available. Customers in North America may schedule demonstrations by contacting their local Hunter Heavy Duty Representative at www.hunter.com/demos

New! Fully Integrated Alignment for Heavy-Duty Vehicles

Hunter now offers Fully Integrated Alignment (FIA) for heavy-duty vehicles. Hunter's patented FIA process streamlines the alignment process by eliminating trips around the vehicle.

Hunter's heavy-duty PowerSlide turnplates automatically lock and unlock at appropriate times, saving technicians time and hassle. They also reduce maintenance cost by relocking automatically after each alignment, so technicians will not drive off the turnplates with lock pins out.

Hunter's heavy-duty PowerSlide turnplates can operate on the floor or with an alignment rack. All PowerSlide turnplates feature built-in turnplate bridges for Hunter's exclusive rolling compensation.

August 11, 2015 – Press Release

Howes Company Background

For over 95 years Howes Lubricator has been producing quality, professional grade products that offer peak performance and protection. In 1920, Wendell V.C. Howes formulated a line of preventative maintenance products that would fuel the company to worldwide recognition. At the time, the automotive industry, still in its infancy, lacked any significant performance improving products. Howes toiled over formulas for years before he felt satisfied with his “Motor Elixir.” Extensive testing has proven that his original creation exceeded all expectation, and even today, products in the Howes line are still based on this secret formula.

Now in its fifth-generation, the Howes family is more dedicated than ever to giving their customers state-of-the-art, top of the line products that meet the demands of changing fuels and engine designs. Using only the highest quality, petroleum based ingredients, Howes continues to be the leader in today’s ever-growing additive market. Rob Howes, current President of Howes Lubricator, says, “Everything is based on my great grandfather. Not only are the products based on his original formula, but our mindsets are based on his core values as well. We only produce products that truly work and are always safe to use. When you buy a Howes product you’re not just buying it from a family company, you’re becoming part of our family.”

Howes Lubricator’s most popular product, Howes Diesel Treat, has kept generations of over-the-road truckers from gelling up, and extended the life of their engines. Fuel gelling is a major concern for most truckers and Howes Diesel Treat eliminates that concern and also cleans and lubricates the entire fuel injection system. The treatment reduces the cold filter plugging point by 20 degrees or more and is backed by Howes’ one of a kind guarantee; “You go or we pay the tow!” If your truck gels up while using Howes Diesel Treat, Howes will pay the tow. “We’re that sure of our Diesel Treat formula,” Rob Howes says, “and each and every one of our products has a money back guarantee that can’t be beat.”

The next in a great line of products is Howes Meaner Power Kleaner, an additive produced by Howes for year-round use. It does not contain an anti-gel and instead has extra cleaning and lubricating properties to combat the effects of Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) and deposits caused by the new high pressure common rail injector. Howes Meaner Power Kleaner combats the issues caused by ULSD and more by adding lubricity, eliminating water problems, cleaning injectors and increasing power. Howes guarantees a minimum 5% increase in fuel economy or your money back, and promises to save you money and fuel related down-time.

In 2015, Howes has introduced their newest products, the Enhancer Line. Howes Fuel Enhancer is the first product Howes has offered that is safe for use in gas and diesel. The product cleans and lubricates upper cylinders and injectors while reducing heat and friction and providing more complete combustion. Another new product is Howes Oil Enhancer designed to raise oil pressure, lower operating temperature and extend the life of engines and gear boxes. There is also a Hub Oil in the line that increases the life of bearings and seals.

Recently, Wendell’s great, great grandchildren, Erika and Rob Howes II, joined the company and the family couldn’t be more thrilled about their involvement. “Over the years we have expanded the product line and the company has grown just as our family has,” says Rob Howes. “But our products are the best they’ve ever been, our customers are, as always, our top priority and that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be.”
