Members of Manitoba’s trucking industry gathered to celebrate the industry’s top drivers at the annual Manitoba Trucking Association Driver Awards Banquet
on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Rodney Birdsbill of Allscape Ltd. took home Grand Champion honours from the day’s Professional Truck Driving Championship (PTDC) with a score of 118 points above average in the Super-B category.
Birdsbill was also the Hal Bjornson Memorial Award recipient (top score overall).
Other PTDC winners were Cody Briggs (Jade Transport Ltd.) in the tandem-tandem category as Top Rookie. Top Team was Bison Transport Inc.
The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) has announced its 2026-2027 Board of Directors and Executive following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and April Board of Directors meeting held
on Friday, April 17, reinforcing its commitment to strong governance and industry leadership.

he Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) proudly celebrated excellence, leadership, and safety across the province’s commercial transportation industry at the 2026 Awards Celebration, held April 23 at the Grey Eagle Event Centre.
The Awards Celebration serves as an important reminder of the vital role individuals and organizations play in advancing safety, professionalism, and collaboration within the transportation sector. By recognizing these contributions, AMTA continues to promote
a culture where safety and service remain at the forefront of the industry.
BC Trucking Association
In March 2026, the BC Trucking Association (BCTA) conducted a comprehensive review of transborder freight activity between British Columbia and the United States, using data from the US Department of Transportation. The goal was to understand long-term trends shaping BC’s cross-border trucking sector, and to determine whether recent shocks – such as the pandemic and the US tariffs – are influencing freight movement volumes.
Our study spanned 20 years of freight data (2006-2025), focusing exclusively on goods moved by truck through BC’s 17 land border crossings, connecting the US states of Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.
