The Saskatchewan Trucking Association has been notified by SGI that the regulatory body has committed to having a plan in place for standardized Class 1 training in Saskatchewan by 2019.
The STA has been working with Saskatchewan Government Insurance on the language, curriculum, standards, and rollout of a standardized/mandatory class 1 training program in Saskatchewan since 2017. The STA is proud to be able to announce that this will finally be a reality in our province. The announcement is fresh and there are many details that still need to be worked out and the STA will be there every step of the way.
Working with the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training and Trucking HR Canada, the STA is looking to increase safety and driver standards while addressing the truck driver shortage here in Saskatchewan.
As details develop on this file, the STA Members will be notified. If you have any questions about the STA’s role in the initiative or require further information, please contact Susan Ewart at sewart@sasktrucking.com.
