The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA), together with Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation, and the University of Manitoba Transport Institute are pleased to announce the re-launch of the GrEEEn (Economically and Environmentally Efficient) Trucking incentive program. The program offers incentives to companies that install various approved technologies designed to improve fuel efficiency.
The GrEEEn Trucking Program is an answer to the trucking industry's plea for support in reducing their GHG footprint. Bob Dolyniuk, Executive Director of the MTA recognizes one of the trucking industry's current challenges is to increase fuel economy and reduce GHG emissions. One of the ways this can be accomplished is to embrace proven technologies designed specifically for this purpose. The program offers incentives on green technologies, such as low rolling resistance tires, aerodynamic tractor equipment, trailer side skirts, auxiliary power units, and tractor-trailer gap fairings. Dolyniuk believes "the key to enabling our industry to make the largest possible contribution to reducing its GHG footprint is to get as many new trucks and environmentally friendly technologies introduced into our fleets as possible."
Participants are required to invest a minimum of $1,500 per unit in technologies to be eligible for rebate, and companies can apply for rebates on up to 15 units. These rebates range from 15% to 25% up to a maximum $2,500 per unit of the company's capital investment.
