AMTA on the move
For the past five years the AMTA has dreamed about securing its own facility to better serve members. That dream has become a reality, as the AMTA took possession of a newly constructed building in November and held an Open House on November 20.
The new facility boasts close to 17,000 sq. ft. of space, and features a drive-in truck bay to accommodate a tractor trailer unit (for hands on training), large and small training rooms, and offices – and over 60 parking spaces for visiting members to choose from.
Equipped for web-based conferencing and on-line learning, this state of the art training center has been conceived with the transportation industry in mind and with a strong focus on serving the industry, now and into the future.
Situated near many AMTA members, the facility is located in the heart of Calgary’s Patton Industrial Area at #1, 285005 Wrangler Way in Rockyview, Alberta, T1X 0K5.

New e-newsletter
To keep its members better informed, the AMTA has launched a new e-newsletter. The purpose of this e-publication is to provide companies and personnel in Alberta’s transportation industry with information that supports the AMTA’s goal of enhancing workplace safety and fostering a healthy, vibrant industry.
Members will receive this e-newsletter in their inbox eight times per year. In October and March a printed newsletter is produced (instead of the e-newsletter) and this will be sent to recipients via Canada Post. No publications will take place during July and August.

Calgary sets record
The AMTA’s popular Calgary Golf Tournament drew a record number of golfers this fall as 112 members competed for fun and a variety of fabulous prizes. The tournament was held September 10 at Heatherglen Golf Course.
The winning team came from Ashton Transport. The foursome of Maurice Ringuette, Rene Ringuette, Steve Dunn and Greg Israel was awarded free tickets to compete in the Edmonton Golf Tournament next June.
The Calgary Golf Tournament Organizing Committee is to be congratulated for staging such a marvelous event. Committee members were Jim Bereza (Nicholls Trailer Sales), Sherry Orr (BFL Canada), Dave Ingram (Finning Canada) and Dave Matthews (Rogers Stieg Transportation Insurance).
And a huge THANK-YOU goes out to the sponsors:
